Dead Alive (1992)
Directed by Peter Jackson, Dead Alive is very possibly the goriest movie ever made, and boy is it entertaining. If there's any reason to watch this movie, it would be all the silly moments (Such as a Kung-fu priest) that truly make this film worthwhile.

Dawn of the Dead (2004)
If you could trust anyone to remake a beloved horror classic, it had to be Zack Snyder. Extremely stylish and as fun as being trapped in a mall fun of zombies, the 2004 Dawn of the Dead is possibly the best horror remake in recent years.
Dvdmacyoshi's rating:

Cemetery Man (1994)
This movie is very, very confusing, but boy is it worth it. It's hard to say if this is a serious or a funny movie, so I'm just gonna say it's both, and that you should check this out.
Dvdmacyoshi's rating:

Planet Terror (2007)
Part of the double feature Grindhouse, packaged along with Death Proof, Planet Terror is a celebration of all cheesy and gory horror movies. Robert Rodriguez is a genius at replicating this 70's exploitation film style, as can be seen in his more recent Machete.
Dvdmacyoshi's rating:

A cult classic, and it's easy to see why. The true charm of this film (and indeed the entire trilogy) comes from Bruce Campbell's performance as Ash, one of the coolest, funniest movie characters of all time.
Dvdmacyoshi's rating:

White Zombie (1932)
This film stars Bela Lugosi, so you know its good. A true classic black and White film from the Golden Age of cinema.
Dvdmacyoshi's rating:

The Return of the Living Dead, despite the name, is not a sequel to Night of the Living Dead, although it might as well be. Night of The Living Dead is mentioned many times throughout Return of the living dead, and if there is any movie worthy being a sequel to Night of the Living Dead, it's this.
Dvdmacyoshi's rating:

Shaun of the Dead (2004)
It's almost impossible NOT to love this movie. One of the smartest and funniest comedies in recent years, if not of all time, Shaun of the Dead is the greatest parody of the zombie genre.
Dvdmacyoshi's rating:

Dawn of the Dead (1978) (1978)
Zack Snyder's remake may have been awesome, but it still can't top the original. A great horror film, but also a great satire of American consumerism, using the metaphor of mindless zombies in a shopping mall. Dawn of the Dead is a true classic of the genre.
Dvdmacyoshi's rating:

Night of the Living Dead (1968)
Whilst Dawn of the Dead is a true classic of the genre, Night of the living Dead is THE classic zombie movie. When people think "Zombie movie", they think Night of the Living Dead. It practically made the genre what it is. Almost every other entry on this list was at least in some way influenced by this true masterpiece of horror.
