Hugo (2011)
Martin Scorsese makes great movies and this is no exception! Focusing on Hugo (Asa Butterfield) an orphan living in the attics of a train station who steals croissants to survive. He then meets a toy booth owner (Ben Kingsley) who is revealed to be George Melies who made hundreds of movies but 'A Trip To The Moon' is the last surviving one and a classic. 'Hugo' will remain a classic with great acting, script and telling of Melies.

What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993)
1993 was a good year to be Leonardo DiCaprio as he gave his best performance at 19 years old in this classic movie. He stole the show from Johnny Depp and showed he was a great actor. The movie itself is an amazing drama about Gilbert Grape (Johnny Depp) who has to care for his disabled brother Arnie (DiCaprio) and his obese mother Bonnie (Darlene Cates) which gets in the way when he falls in love with young woman Becky (Juliette Lewis)

'The King's Speech' stars Colin Firth (in an Oscar, BAFTA, Golden Globe, SAG and Critics Choice Award winning performance) as King George VI, who to cope with a stammer, sees Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush), an Australian speech and language therapist played by Geoffrey Rush. The men become friends as they work together. What a performance by Colin Firth! He won over 30 awards and its thanks to him that the movie became b-b-b-brilliant!

The Aviator (2004)
This is the second time Martin Scorsese has appeared on this list and this movie features a strong performance from Leonardo DiCaprio whose best performance is 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape' but this is his next best performance which won him a Golden Globe and earned him nominations for the Oscar and BAFTA! He plays Howard Hughes (in a marvellous telling of the story) who became the worlds wealthiest man and a successful movie producer. He is joined by actress Cate Blanchett who deserves her Oscar as she too is great! DiCaprio appeared in a modern version of the following...

Although Baz Luhrmann re imagined this movie as a modernization, this version is far better and deserves to be a classic. Faithful to the original play and featuring charming lead actors Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey, this is a timeless perfect classic! And it seems more like a drama than Baz Luhrmann's version!

Gone with the Wind (1939)
Since this movie came out, people have been talking about it for over 70 years. This is the 75th anniversary and it seems to celebrate 'Gone With The Wind' as an amazing, heart warming classic with an amazing cast, stunning sets and a very interesting script!

Downfall (2004)
This is (probably) the best movie about Adolf Hitler! This one focuses on Hitler (Bruno Ganz, in an amazing performance) and his downfall and his last ten days! Bruno Ganz steals the show from all the other actors in the movie. The movie itself has a large German cast and despite not well known actors joining the party, these actors are also very good, but Ganz is the one that deserves the universal praise! He is a great actor! The movie itself is an interesting, detailed telling of the last ten days of Nazi Germany and is very faithful!

Slumdog Millionaire (2008)
10/10? It deserves 1,000,000/10! Amazing movie! Interesting and strongly acted!
filmbuilder's rating:
This isn't far from being the best movie ever made but for now its the second best drama out there! Featuring great performances by Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes, 'Schindler's List' tells the story of Oskar Schindler and the Jews leaving the country very, very well!

And the winner is...
Not quite the best movie ever but the only movie better than 'The Shawshank Redemption' is Christopher Nolan's thriller 'Memento'. 'The Shawshank Redemption' has a story told very, very well and showcase performances from Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins! There's nothing bad about this movie!
