"Now, get this - we ain't partners, we ain't brothers and we ain't friends - I'm puttin' you down and keepin' you down until Ganz is locked up or dead, and if Ganz gets away, you're gonna be sorry you ever met me!" - Jack Cates
I am beginning my journey through my DVD collection with my number movies, and my favorite one of those is 48 Hrs. - one of the first and one of the best buddy cop movies, it was Eddie Murphy's first film and is still among my top three favorites of his, it also features James Remar as the vicious Albert Ganz - he went on to play Dexter Morgan's father later in his career, which I think is symmetrical - it is a shame they messed up the sequel so badly, when the ending of this movie lent a perfect story for one, but never the less this film stands alone as a 80's classic.

"We may be trying to let a guilty man go free, I don't know, nobody really can, but we have a reasonable doubt, and that's something that's very valuable in our system - no jury can declare a man guilty unless it's sure." - Juror #8

"You erased me from your memories because you thought you were holding me back from having a full and happy life, but you made a mistake, being with you is the only way I could have a full and happy life, you're the girl of my dreams, and apparently, I'm the man of yours." - Henry Roth

"We're reviving a canceled undercover police program from the '80s and revamping it for modern times, you see the guys in charge of this stuff lack creativity and are completely out of ideas, so all they do now is recycle shit from the past and expect us all not to notice." - Deputy Chief Hardy

"I know everything hasn't been quite right with me, but I can assure you now, very confidently, that it's going to be all right again, I feel much better now, I really do - look, Dave, I can see you're really upset about this, I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill and think things over, I know I've made some very poor decisions recently, but I can give you my complete assurance that my work will be back to normal, I've still got the greatest enthusiasm and confidence in the mission and I want to help you." - HAL

American Graffiti (1973)
Watched April 14th, 2015
"We're finally getting out of this turkey town, and now you wanna crawl back into your cell, right? - you wanna end up like John? - you just can't stay seventeen forever." - Steve Bolander
Starting out my 'A' movies with the George Lucas classic, American Graffiti - it launched the careers of Richard Dreyfuss and Harrison Ford, as well as featuring many 70's TV stars, including Ron Howard, Cindy Williams, Mackenzie Phillips and Suzanne Summers, and it was the inspiration for the long running TV series Happy Days, which also starred Howard - the movie also has a killer soundtrack of 50's, early 60's rock tunes with the legendary Wolfman Jack as the DJ - it is a fun, fast paced, nostalgic film - and watching it again makes me wish even more that George Lucas had tried his hand at directing other films in the last forty years besides the Star Wars saga.

I have spent the last few months fine tuning my DVD collection, I settled on 550/550 - 550 DVDs (including my TV and music DVDs) which make up the 550 movies in my collection - I felt any more than that and my collection would be getting out of control, but I didn't have the heart to cut out 50 movies to reduce it to 500, to many films that I love - so now that I have my collection to about where I like it, I felt it was finally time to sit back and watch all the films I own from beginning to end - a project that will more than likely take over a year, but should also be a lot of fun, as aside form a few bad films that are part of a set, I enjoyed all of these movies the first time.
