Chasing Amy (1997)
Seen the first time in the theaters, on a date. Love at first sight, the movie not the girl.

Rushmore (1998)
Seen the first time at a friend's house shortly after the DVD was released. When Miss Cross gets graphic with Max, my friend's mom and I shared an uncomfortable glance.

Almost Famous (2000)
Seen for the first time sometime after the DVD release while in college. My real first memory of the film was the constant rotation of the "Tiny Dancer" scene on the College Television Network.
Jason's rating:

Seen for the first time in the theaters, on a date. My date didn't like the movie. That was a huge sign.

Igby Goes Down (2002)
Seen for the first time on DVD in the summer of 2003 while interning in Washington, DC. My coworkers raved about the movie, and I soon learned they were right.
Jason's rating:

Seen for the first time in 2005 after hearing a Fresh Air interview with Noah Baumbach about The Squid and the Whale and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
Jason's rating:

The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)
Seen for the first time in the theaters, an eager wait since falling in love with Rushmore. I believe I saw it one more time while it was still on the cinema circuit.
Jason's rating:

Seen for the first time shortly after it came out on DVD. It was a non-Spike Jonze-directed Charlie Kaufman script, so it slid under my radar when it was still in theaters.
Jason's rating:

Harold and Maude (1971)
Seen for the first time sometime in 2008, I believe. I saw it on the list of great films in 101 Things to Do Before You Die. (Check out that list here.)
Jason's rating:

The Rules of Attraction (2002)
Another find on DVD in the summer of 2003. It was recommended to me by a friend.
