My Pick: Inception
There is nothing wrong with this one, actually I did like it very much, but the best film of the year....I am not quite sure.
santanu's rating:

Inception (2010)
By far this one was the best film of 2010. It blew my head completely.

My Pick: Inglourious Bssterds
The Hurt Locker (2008)
The film at best was good in patches. In totality it drags too much in places.
santanu's rating:

Inglourious Basterds (2009)
It was a delight to watch. The long interrogation sessions were too much to handle and Tarantino's quirky direction took the film to an another level.

My Pick: The Dark Knight
My Pick: The Dark Knight
Slumdog Millionaire (2008)
I can't even stand this one and the fact that I belong to the same place the movie is based upon, it failed to move me.
santanu's rating:

The Dark Knight (2008)
This one did not even bag the nomination and to me this will be one of the ten best films of the decade.

My Pick: No Country for Old Men
Distant Second: Michael Clayton
My Pick: No Country for Old Men
Distant Second: Michael Clayton
The Oscars were dead right this time. No Country for Old Men was too good to ignore.

My Pick: The Departed.
Distant Second: Babel
My Pick: The Departed.
Distant Second: Babel
Atlast a small time director(!) named Martin Scorsese bagged an Oscar!!! Though it wasn't among his best but still it was good enough to grab the Oscar.
santanu's rating:

I liked this one very much, a different year could have changed it's fate.
santanu's rating:

2006
Best Motion Picture of the Year(Oscar): Crash
My Pick: Munich

I just have a keen feeling that more often than not the best films of the year does not win the best film Oscar. There may be reasons that I don't understand, but let me share what I feel about the ones that should have won instead.
