Might and Magic series

Might and Magic games are a series of dungeon-crawling RPGs which started off as an enhanced clone of Wizardry and later rose to prominence as a franchise on it's own. Early on, their main competition was the AD&D series of RPGs, but from mid 90s onwars, the series began to fade away from popularity (not to confused with its spin-off series, 'Heroes of Might and Magic', a turn based RPG that is doing great even in 2007). The last official part of the Might and Magic series is Might and Magic IX, released in early 2002, which no version 'X' announced 5 years later.

Apart from the very successful Heroes franchise, the Might and Magic universe includes several other spin-off titles, such as Dark Messiah, Crusaders, Legends, and Warriors, all of which I've included throughout this list, in chrono order. Many of these are rather unsuccessful attempts to branch out to other genres and consoles, but the latest one, Dark Messiah, has proven quite popular and may branch off its own series in the years ahead.
