Yesterday I went to a wonderful intimate little concert, in an audience of about 50 round candle-lit tables, at Builth Wells in Mid Wales, with Gwyneth Glyn from Wales and Seckou Keita, the master Kora player from Senegal, performing. It felt like I was being enveloped in their beautiful souls.
I was so happy to chat for some time with each of them afterwards; they are both lovely people. Here are some songs of theirs, including ones not in the concert, such as Gwyneth with the Indian-Welsh group Ghazalaw (she'll be touring with them soon) and Seckou with Welsh harpist Catrin Finch who made an acclaimed album with him.
Seckou has a new album out shortly- 22 Strings: I got my copy early from him. Most of the songs from the album, including my own favourite If Only I Knew, which he got us singing along to in a Senegalese language, are not yet on youtube: I'll add some when they are.
Gywneth and Seckou will be at Machynlleth and Swansea next on their little Welsh tour together.
