KingStefou's Note: This film is, hands down, my all-time favourite film. Everything from Malcolm McDowell's performance to the trippy and comical visuals, I can watch it countless times and it will never fail to amuse me. Although there is no such thing as a perfect film, this is pretty damn close.

Film Director - Michel Gondry
Rotten Tomatoes - 93%
Running Time - 1 Hour, 48 Minutes
Starring - Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet
A couple undergo a procedure to erase each other from their memories when their relationship turns sour, but it is only through the process of loss that they discover what they had to begin with.
Directing - 5/5
Screenplay - 5/5
Visual Appeal - 5/5
Acting Performances - 5/5
KingStefou's Note: Definitely my favourite love story in a film as it explores the chemistry between Carrey and Winslet in a twisted, non-linear way, while still maintaining the magic that is found in a properly told love story. This one may take a few viewings to catch everything, but this is due to the outstanding script and direction.

Requiem for a Dream (2000)
Film Director - Darren Aronofsky
Rotten Tomatoes - 78%
Running Time - 1 Hour, 41 Minutes
Starring - Jared Leto, Ellen Burstyn, Jennifer Connelly, Marlon Waynes
The drug-induced utopias of four Coney Island individuals are shattered when their addictions become stronger.
Directing - 5/5
Screenplay - 4.5/5
Visual Appeal - 5/5
Acting Performances - 4.5/5
KingStefou's Note: Drug-addiction films are usually quite entertaining, even if they are campy and silly, like Jonas Akerlund's "Spun". This film is one of the better writen, directed, and acted drug-films. It is also the most shocking and revealing as it portrays the drug life without a single silver-cloud-lining. Very real and very memorable.

Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
Film Director - Stanley Kubrick
Rotten Tomatoes - 77%
Running Time - 2 Hours, 39 Minutes

A New York City doctor, who is married to an art curator, pushes himself on a harrowing and dangerous night-long odyssey of sexual and moral discovery after his wife admits that she once almost cheated on him.
Directing - 4.5/5
Screenplay - 4.5/5
Visual Appeal - 5/5
Acting Performances - 5/5
KingStefou's Note: This is quite the film. The first time I watched it, I was really thrown off by certain parts of it. It took me a couple more viewings to really appreciate its smart script and incredible directing. This is definitely one of Kubrick's smartest and most thrilling films, and a must-see of the 90's.

Film Director - Mel Stuart
Rotten Tomatoes - 89%
Running Time - 1 Hour, 40 Minutes
Starring - Gene Wilder, Peter Ostrum, Jack Albertson
A poor boy wins the opportunity to tour the most eccentric and wonderful candy factory of all.
Directing - 5/5
Screenplay - 4.5/5
Visual Appeal - 5/5
Acting Performances - 4.5/5
KingStefou's Note: This is my favourite musical and children's film. It's a little dark for its genre, but that doesn't stop it from being a children's classic. The original score is what makes the film, while the comical and surreal visuals are also what make it very memorable for myself.

Chasing Amy (1997)
Film Director - Kevin Smith
Rotten Tomatoes - 90%
Running Time - 1 Hour, 53 Minutes
Starring - Ben Affleck, Joey Lauren Adams, Jason Lee
Holden and Banky are comic book artists. Everything's going good for them until they meet Alyssa, also a comic book artist. Holden falls for her, but his hopes are crushed when he finds out she's a lesbian.
Directing - 4.5/5
Screenplay - 5/5
Visual Appeal - 4/5
Acting Performances - 5/5
KingStefou's Note: Kevin Smith's best film in my opinion. Many would argue and say that Clerks is his best, but Clerks doesn't have the strong performances or emotional depth that can be found in Chasing Amy. Smith's high-point of his career was with Chasing Amy and all of his success was well deserved. Now let's just hope he doesn't make another movie like Red State.

Melancholia (2011)
Film Director - Lars von Trier
Rotten Tomatoes - 77%
Running Time - 2 Hours, 10 Minutes
Starring - Kristen Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg
Two sisters find their already strained relationship challenged as a mysterious new planet threatens to collide with the Earth.
Directing - 5/5
Screenplay - 4.5/5
Visual Appeal - 5/5
Acting Performances - 5/5
KingStefou's Note: I was really not expecting much from this film. I have never really been a big fan of Lars von Trier, and I thought that his previous film "Antichrist" was a huge disappointment. I will be the first to admit that the first chapter of this film is slow, but that isn't to say that it's bad. The second chapter however is very engaging and thrilling. This film, as a whole, is one depressingly memorable piece of work.

Film Director - Darren Aronofsky
Rotten Tomatoes - 98%
Running Time - 1 Hour, 49 Minutes

Directing - 4.5/5
Screenplay - 5/5
Visual Appeal - 4.5/5
Acting Performances - 5/5
KingStefou's Note: Another depressing film by Darren Aronofsky. His directing is genius and character development is so strong that it makes it difficult to see them go through hardships. Even if you are not a fan of wrestling, this film is still a must-see.

Film Director - Stanley Kubrick
Rotten Tomatoes - 97%
Running Time - 1 Hour, 56 Minutes
Starring - Matthew Modine, Vincent D'Onofrio, R. Lee Ermey
A pragmatic U.S. Marine observes the dehumanizing effects the Vietnam War has on his fellow Marine recruits from their brutal boot camp training to the bloody street fighting set in 1968 in Hue, Vietnam.
Directing - 5/5
Screenplay - 4.5/5
Visual Appeal - 4.5/5
Acting Performances - 4.5/5
KingStefou's Note: Yet another Kubrick film makes my top 10. The first half (or third?) of this film blew me away the first time I saw it. The film really shows the psychological effects that the Vietnam war had on American soldiers in a devastating way. A must-see Kubrick film.

Film Director - Miguel Arteta
Rotten Tomatoes - 66%
Running Time - 1 Hour, 29 Minutes
Starring - Michael Cera, Portia Doubleday
While on vacation, Awkward teenager Nick Twisp falls in love with a beautiful and charismatic girl named Sheeni Saunders, and creates a law-rejecting but suave alter-persona to bring himself and Sheeni closer together after after he is forced to return home.
Directing - 5/5

Visual Appeal - 4.5/5

KingStefou's Note: This one caught me by surprise. I was not expecting to like it more than "Superbad" and "Juno" combined as I really liked those two movies as well. This movie may not be for everybody, but its charm and star-studded cast will make it worth the watch, even if you won't love it as much as I do.

Visual Appeal - 4.5/5
Acting Performances - 4.5/5
