The Big Green (1995)
This was Eddie's number one choice for best school movie of all time. I don't know much about it other than it has some kind of soccer playing goat in it.
In the Army Now (1994)
This was Eddie's number 2 choice. I don't think I've ever seen it. And that's because watching a Pauly Shore movie is like getting gangrene on your leg. It really hurts and you want to cut it off early.
High School High (1996)
This was Eddie's number 3 choice. I actually watched 15 minutes of it and found it vaguely entertaining. Eddie describes the highlight as being when the teacher gets his briefcase stolen. Sounds like a classic.
Encino Man (1992)
This was Eddie's number 4 choice. Sensibly enough it is also the best regarded of the four movies he chose. Though, it still does star Brendan Fraser and Pauly Shore. OK BuuuuuuudY.
Back to the Future (1985)
Mark's number 1 choice for best school movie. I'm just thankful he didn't choose Back to the Future III. Though I guess that would make little sense this being a school movie list.

Stand and Deliver (1988)
Mark's number 2 choice. I've never seen it, but I do know that the guy the movie is a biography of, did a bunch of math lessons for PBS. He was very enthused about calculus.
Mark's number 3 choice. Once again a movie I've never seen. It is, however, the most interesting sounding choice on any of the lists. And, it reminds me of Mr. Popper's Penguins.
187 (1997)
Mark's number 4 choice. Thank God for netflix instant streaming or I would never have been able to indulge in this cinema classic. It should rank up there with Dead Poets Society and Lean on Me as one of the top inspirational teacher stories. I was especially inspired when he shot the illiterate gangbanger with a vial full of drugs and then chopped off his finger. Brings new meaning to the term "higher" education.
10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
Sara's number one school movie of all time. I don't really recall seeing it but a shakespere play adapted to fit into modern times sounds very interesting. Unless of course you are like me and have seen Scotland, PA.
Friday Night Lights (2004)
Sara's number 2 choice. I remember enjoying this movie thoroughly but it has been eclipsed in my mind by the wonderful television series. If you can stand shaky cam go check that sucker out.
madstalk's rating:

A Little Princess (1995)
Sara's number 3 choice and a truly inspired on if you ask me. It's directed by the guy that did Children of Men (Alfonso Cuaron) and it is a fantastic quasi-fairy tale about a girl who loses her father in World War one and is basically forced into servitude at a boarding school. My favorite "princess" movie (take that Princess and the Frog and Princess Bride).
Donnie Darko (2001)
Sara's number 4 choice. I know it has a talking bunny in it but not Jimmy Stewart. Maybe when I want to take a strange trip I will imbibe in this sucker.
madstalk's rating:

Rushmore (1998)
Andrew's(that's me) number one choice for best school movie. This is also my all time favorite movie. It was just so fresh and appealing to me and I loved the style. Anderson's recent live action films have fallen below my expectations but I will always love Rushmore.
madstalk's rating:

Andrew's number 2 choice. It was a truly surprising film. I had just watched Varsity Blues and was dreading the next MTV films movie but damn did I love Election. The idea of a teacher trying to outdo an overachieving student was very interesting and very well done. It almost makes me want to revisit Sideways. Almost.
madstalk's rating:

Matilda (1996)
Andrew's number 3 choice. The obligatory nostalgia pick, but Danny Devito and the other characters here are entertaining enough to warrant a spot on my list. The school scenes (shot-putting children by their hair specifically) were very entertaining.
madstalk's rating:

Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982)
Andrew's number 4 choice. It's fairly exploitative but the emotional core of this film proves that there are more than "two" reasons to love it.
