2013 Film Diary

First film of 2013. It was a decent start. A hopeful start actually, it was a fun, energetic and smart mystery thriller. If a mainstream action movie like this can be actually entertaining, then maybe that means we have a decent year for films ahead of us.

Everyone has been singing praises about this film since it's release, and while I feel like it was definitely the bets animated film of 2012, I don't think it was like... amazing or anything. It's just easy to be the best when your biggest competition in the category is Hotel Transylvania.

Great documentary film, if the job of a documentary is to shed light on a situation that people might not know about, then this documentary definitely did it's job. A very sad, depressing and most of all effective film.

I rarely see documentaries these days that aren't afraid to mix in other genres, and aren't afraid to tell a narrative. This is one of those films, just a very enthralling story, mixing in some elements of black humour, which makes the story all that much more believable.
