Green Woodpecker & Weasel

Amateur photographer Martin Le-May from Essex, England has recorded the extraordinary image of a weasel riding on the back of a green woodpecker as it flies through the air.

The photograph was taken at Hornchurch Country Park in east London on the afternoon of Monday, 2nd March 2015.

The weasel leapt onto the bird, which flew off in a panic and eventually managed to shake the weasel off. After it landed, the weasel ran into the long grass.
