Pitfall, along with Joust, was my favourite Atari 2600 game. While Joust was the start of 'action' platform game, Pitfall was the start 'adventure' platform game - it introduces many levels, obstacles, and various traps and enemies. For 1982, this was very revolutionary. There were no enemies to conquer (only to avoid) and points were gained by collection various gold bars scattered throughout the jungle.
