Jerry Heil and Julia Sanina present a music video for their song "WABI-SABI," inspired by the Japanese philosophy of embracing change. Combined with the musical talents of the two artists, the video reflects the deep meanings of Ukrainian reality.
The video depicts a process of renewal through the symbolism of "kintsugi" – the art of repairing broken pottery with gold, which is believed to make the piece more beautiful and valuable.
"Today, you won't find a single Ukrainian who hasn't been traumatized, either morally or physically. This is a new reality that we must accept. And in this reality, new understandings of beauty emerge," shares Jerry Heil.
Just as broken pottery, when mended with gold, takes on new forms, we, having experienced the trials of war, become stronger.
"By gathering ourselves from the fragments, like a broken vase, we become even stronger, even more beautiful, we become different and learn to love ourselves – as we are now. This is an art that we are all learning as a society. Because we will never be the same as we were," adds Julia Sanina.
Yulia Grigoryeva, a graduate of the Superhumans center, who embodies the new reality, strength of spirit, and beauty, starred in the video.
