Can you save Princess Hannah? Do you have the skill to build the crazy contraption that will save her? This whacky set lets you create a Rube Goldberg-style machine and set all the silly fun in action. This video shows you how to build and play with these innovative sets.

Product Info: You’ve probably heard the name Rube Goldberg. He was a cartoonist and humorist known mostly for his outrageous drawings of machines that, as he said exert “the maximum amount of effort for the minimal result.” If you know the famous game Mousetrap from the mid-1960s, well, then you’ve seen a Rube Goldberg invention in action. Kids have always found these hilarious, and Rube Goldberg is a kind of hero for the Steampunk movement.
Now, though, that fascination with mechanics and complicated ways to do simple things has translated into a full line of Rube Goldberg toys and inventions from Spin Master. This is The Castle Escape challenge, one of the more complicated sets in the line.

Kids build a contraption that is designed to rescue Princess Hannah from the palace, and you can be sure we’re not going to do it the easy way. If all goes well, the bowling ball hits the shield, tipping the castle bridge. Sir Rube’s cart rolls down the bridge, trips the helping hand, which fires the flaming ball out of the cannon that does in the dragon, knocking the cannon ball down the ramp, which tips the hand and knocks over the platform that Hannah is standing on. Her hair ribbon catches the cord, and she slides to freedom.

Like all machines of this nature, this isn't going to work every time. You may have to tinker with the different pieces to get them to work correctly. But that’s part of the play. You can also link this up with other sets in the collection to create a series of chain reactions. We wish the directions were a little clearer. For instance, they say nothing about needing to tinker with the set up. However, there are some very good online videos that make the process pretty clear.

Other sets in this line are sold separately.
