Description from the Fantasia International Film Festival "Young teacher Yui Ikuno is offered a substitute position following the sudden departure of a third-grade teacher. If the opportunity fills her with happiness, her student Toshio's repeated absenteeism quickly taints the experience. Her calls to the young student's home remain unanswered, and Yui goes there in person to enquire about his condition. Toshio's mother, Kayoko, reacts strangely, to say the least, and a child's voice convinces the teacher to go look at the kid's bedroom, which she finds, much to her surprise, condemned. Following this visit, worrying phenomena starts happening around Yui. Turns out Kayoko and Toshio's house is home to sordid secrets and all that dare enter it fall victim to the curse that haunts it. ยถ Such a rumour proves attractive to young schoolgirls looking for a thrill. Aoi hears from her older sister that the house she is trying to sell might be haunted, so she brings three of her friends to visit - and get a little scared. Amongst the group, Nanami is the most reticent to enter, but her friends ridicule her into following them. It is a poor decision, as her future, as well her friends', becomes seriously compromised... ยถ Fans of classic J-Horror, rejoice! The curse of Kayoko and Toshio is back! This new entry in the JU-ON series offers a fresh starting point, much like SADAKO 3D. Unlike that reinterpretation of the RINGU trilogy, however, JU-ON THE BEGINNING OF THE END closely follows the narrative structure of its predecessors and through this, speaks directly to fans of the series and to our greatest enjoyment! The director and co-writer Masayuki Ochiai (HYPNOSIS) brings us back to the haunted house and reinstates, slowly but surely, its oppressive atmosphere through a refined and efficient use of mise-en-scene. On screenwriting duties, he is aided by Taka Ichise, a specialist in Japanese horror whose wealth of credits as a producer ranges from classics like RINGU and JU-ON THE GRUDGE to lesser-known gems such as NOROI. Everything is in place for the comeback of one of contemporary horror cinema's most beloved franchises, plunging into terror anyone brave enough to confront the wrath of Kayoko and Toshio!"
