Someone gets sick in a really weird way, and only Dr. House and his team can figure it out.Maybe that's close to the plot line in a lot of the episodes, but I still get sucked in and watch it. There's more to the show than that too, including his "issue" with pain meds and the relationships he's built and tore down. Great to watch and try to figure out.

Recent years have seen a trend of quirky grumpy doctor shows starting with Ted Danson in Becker, the english program Dr Marten and this one staring English comedian Hugh Laurie as a fairly convincing but insane American. Dr. House in my humble opinion is a brilliantly performed and written character and a much needed bit of uniqueness even if the premiss is not.

House m.d. is clearly one of the best shows ever created. Other than some guest appearances, there are no bad/cheesy actors. Hugh Laurie does an excellent job covering up his British accent, with very minor mis-haps. Besides the witty sarcasm, my favorite part of the show is the relationship between House and Wilson.
