Main Navigation: Use the Sliding Doors Technique

I am using the navigation method described in this article :

I have read the sliding doors article in the past but I am not sure of the advantage over the system I am using now.

The one currently used is not scaleable.

I see the advantage and it could work for the sub tabs but for the main tabs the way I have the tabs lining up with the pattern below would mess up if the tabs resized. I think it's fine for now as it looks ok at increased font sizes (unless they are set really big)
