Kane was without a doubt one of the single most prolific and ubiquitous actresses. Kane grew up as a tomboy in a rural community with her mother and grandparents. Kane briefly worked as a secretary for the Salvation Army before beginning her career in the entertainment industry in the late-1970's at the theater The Screening Room in San Francisco, California. After making her debut in Alex de Renzy's Pretty Peaches (1978), Kane went on to act profusely in a slew of features over the course of several decades that encompass all types of productions. Outside of her acting credits, the versatile Sharon also worked movies in a variety of behind-the-scenes capacities that include director, writer, producer, set designer, make-up artist, art director, set decorator, production assistant, and even composer (she often sang and played multiple instruments for the latter). Kane has since retired from the film industry and now resides in a remote rural area.
Kane may have entered the adult film industry in 1978, but her first big break came with the movie Exposed in 1980. She held the world record for appearing in over 859 adult film (although this is now disputed, since adult film actress Sharon Mitchell has appeared in over 2,000). She has won two X-Rated Critics' Organization Awards for the movie Throat - 12 Years After in 1984 and Bodies In Heat #02 in 1989, and one Adult Video News Award in 1990 for Bodies In Heat #02.
As her roles in straight adult film decreased, she started starring in a number of bisexual male based adult film films, which often include scenes pairing Sharon with two bisexual and or transsexual men.
Kane is member of both the AVN and XRCO Halls of Fame.
Today She works behind the camera as director, production manager, art director and film composer for 13 movies. She wrote the scores for 1997's The Hills Have Bi's and Chi Chi La Rue's Idol In The Sky. She directed and starred in Stairway to Paradise, the movie featured in the book Coming Attractions: The Making of an X-Rated Movie. She has been married to Jerry Anaconda since 1996.
