Description: Rebecca Elizabeth Breeds (born 17 June 1987) is an Australian actress known for her roles as Cassie Cometti in the third series of Blue Water High and as series regular Ruby Buckton in the soap opera Home and Away. Her acting career started with her appearance in TV commercials and in a 2000 episode of Water Rats called "Jump in the Mouth". She landed her first lead role as Leah Pointin in the 2008 Australian film Newcastle. Breeds played Cassie Cometti in series 3 of Blue Water High, but she made her first appearance in series 2, episode 3 as Tina. Breeds played Cassie Cometti in series 3 of Blue Water High, but she made her first appearance in series 2, episode 3 as Tina. It was during filming on Blue Water High that she discovered she had been hired to play the role of Ruby Buckton on Home and Away, and her first scenes aired in June/July 2008.
About her Home and Away character, Breeds says "Ruby has gone through a lot, mostly now having a disease and had to gain a level of independence I really admire. She is free-spirited and sure of who she is. I love playing Ruby; she is cheeky and easy-going, but very passionate about her family and friends
Breeds attended Sutherland Shire Christian School from kindergarten to year 10 and then St Andrew's Cathedral School for Years 11 and 12, and was Drama Captain in 2005. At the end of 2005, Breeds, in her capacity as Drama Captain, along with the Music Captain organised a Year 12 Revue; she participated in a few acts including a Spice Girls tribute and a mashup song, co-written with Nick Hansen, titled Steal My Essays/Textual Healing which discusses the Year 12 NSW HSC Advanced English Syllabus she completed in 2005.
The first two series were screened in 2005 and 2006 and the producers did not intend to create a third series. However, due to popular demand by fans, they relented and made one more series with only Kate Bell returning in a main role. Series three ended with the closure of Solar Blue, indicating that the show would most likely not continue.
The first series consisted of twenty-six episodes. It starred Adam Saunders as Heath, the relaxed joker who struggles with school; Tahyna Tozzi as Perri, resident glamour queen from the Gold Coast; Sophie Luck as Fly, the youngest; Kate Bell as Bec, the local; Khan Chittenden as Edge, the aggressive and competitive teenager; Chris Foy as Matt, the generic 'smart guy' and Mara Scherzinger as Anna, a famous German Kiteboarder. At the end of the year, two of them (one girl and one boy) get a wild card spot on the pro-circuit tour. The first series was released on DVD in 4 volumes, though fans are strongly urging for a complete re-release featuring the entire season in one package as was later done with Series Two.
