Philip Ives Dunne was a Hollywood screenwriter, film director and producer, who worked prolifically between 1932 and 1965.
His writing credits include How Green Was My Valley, The Robe, The Late George Apley, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Pinky, and campaign speeches for Adlai E. Stevenson and John F. Kennedy. His films as a director include Ten North Frederick and Blue Denim.
Dunne was a co-founder of the Screen Writers Guild and served as vice-president of its successor, the Writers Guild of America from 1938 to 1940. He later served on the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) from 194
