Stella Quaresma was born in Kingston upon Thames and at four weeks old, her family relocated to Mozambique. She moved back with her family to the British countryside at age five, before returning to London where she started attending The Sylvia Young Theatre School. While studying she would then meet her fellow bandmate Renée Downer who was a grade below her. She grew up listening to African music artists which her would play while her mother would later introduce artists such as American Jazz & Blues Singer Etta James & British artist Amy Winehouse.
