R.C. Sherriff was an English writer best known for his play Journey's End, which was based on his experiences as an army officer in the First World War. He wrote several plays, novels, and screenplays, and was nominated for an Academy Award and two BAFTA awards. Sherriff also served as an infantry officer in the British Army during World War I and was wounded in combat.
