Description: Born in the busy port community of San Pedro, California on December 22 to a 30-year retired U.S. Army veteran and a retired registered nurse -- Peter Navy (The Fast and the Furious) was named after Petelo Siosi Tuiasosopo, his grandfather, a U.S. Navy Captain and Samoan Matai. Tuiasosopo was a former football standout at California Polytechnic University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo. He advanced as far as the NFL scouting combines, where he could bench press a record 225 pounds 46 times before his sporting career came to an end. After football, he started a family and began working as a technician in aviation mechanics. Tuiasosopo was a former football standout at California Polytechnic University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo. After football, he started a family and began working as a technician in aviation mechanics.

Tuiasosopo's first interest in acting occurred when he visited his cousin in Yuma, Arizona, on the set of Rambo III. After several conversations with the film's title star Sylvester Stallone (NBC's The Contender), he began to seriously consider acting as a career.

Shortly after the Rambo III shoot, while shopping in Santa Monica, California, Tuiasosopo was approached by a Hollywood agent. He gave himself a one-year window to succeed as an actor before quitting his job as a technician. Football and film would collide at mid-field in his life, when he received a call from his cousin and longtime stuntman Bob Apisa, who had been in contact with Alan Graf, one of Hollywood's top stunt coordinators.

Graf was looking for a Pacific Islander type to play a football player in Necessary Roughness, a film starring Kathy Ireland and Scott Bakula. The producers and casting directors were unable to cast a 300-pound Hawaiian football player with acting credits, and were very close to canceling the role until Tuiasosopo crashed the call and landed the part. Soon after, he won a detective role opposite TV legend, Adam West (Batman) in the 1993 comedy Danger Theatre.

Tuiasosopo has carved out a niche in Hollywood as an accredited actor of Samoan descent with additional roles in the action dramas as Street Fighter, The Fast and the Furious, The Scorpion King, Austin Powers and Charlie's Angels II.

The actor recently landed his first television role as a series regular as the jovial police officer Kaleo in Hawaii. ... (more)
