Description:
Matthew Mitcham is an Australian diver, best known for winning the gold medal in the 2008 Olympic Champion on the 10m platform.
A former trampoline gymnast, Mitcham began diving in 2000 after being spotted at a local pool by a coach who believed he had potential. Mitcham, who was once the junior world champion in trampoline, quickly began diving full time, and competed in his first national championship meet at age 12.
From 2002 through 2004, Mitcham was a national junior champion in diving, winning the events in which he competed.
