Karr was born Maria Elena Copola in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She headed the cast of several soap operas in the 70s and 80s such as "Rebelde y solitario" (1982), "Llena de amor" (1980), "Quiero morir mañana" (1987) among others. In 1985, she headed a famous movie, with actress Maria Valenzuela, Sucedió en el internado (1985). The movie was a hit and it was the second erotic character Mariana Karr played, after "Escalofrío" in Spain.
