Poulter grew up in a small town in the Rocky mountains in Utah. He's very active in sports at young age dreaming of becoming a personal trainer.
While working out in the gym, many people commented on his great physique and suggested that he should get involved with modeling. During the summer of 2001, with the encouragement from his family and friends, Poulter finally packed his bags and moved to Miami.
