BradWesley123's Movie Journal- December 2018 (49 movies items)" DVD- 1hr. 47min. First Viewing Venom is not a particularly good film; in fact, I'm not quite sure it's even "good". The script is all over the place; the tone is erratic, the plot is, charitably, a mess (you could, seriously, throw out the first 15 or so minutes of this film, and have a leaner finished product), and the characters never evolve past archetypes. Movies the giraffe watched in 2019: March (28 movies items)"First viewing - March 1st I decided to kick off March with Venom so I could finally make up my own mind about it. Everything I've read about it has told me it's a polarizing film, and so I figured I'd trust in Tom Hardy and give it a go. And, well, I don't know about this one. Hardy is excellent as always, and there are some truly funny moments throughout this film. It's kinda fun but also kind of a trainwreck at times. I couldn't help feeling like they should've kept the original intent for it"
“"Venom" is something of an unfortunate film that just so happens to not be incredibly dull and feature a big, gooey monster that the public loves because of this it seems to have gotten a pass from many people but certainly not from me. Though I don't revile it, the film certainly left me feeling like I'd wasted two hours of valuable time on something uncertain of itself and incredibly vacuous.
The movie deals with intrepid, but cowardly, reporter Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) who bonds with an alien parasite that was brought to earth by what basically amounts to an evil Elon Musk. It is, at it's core, an origin story that really just serves as a setup for sequels more than anything.
