In spite of the unbearable dialogues of 'she thinks she knew too much' Ginger; nice suspense, believable twist of Keith. Robinson just stays cool in each scene.

Director Phil Karlson is something of a minor critic’s darling with his beloved noirs The Phenix City Story and Kansas City Confidential frequently getting thrown around on lists of the greatest examples of the genre. Even some of his lesser-known works exhibit a competency with mood and genre that other directors could only hope to master. Enter Tight Spot, a fun little showcase for Ginger Roge... read more

Ginger Rogers brings all the brass and sass she’s got to the role of a former gangster’s moll who, when she’s called to testify against her ex-boyfriend, finds herself caught between the threats of the mob and the machinations of Edward G. Robinson’s crafty U.S. attorney. Inspired by the true story of Virginia Hill’s role in the conviction of notorious mobster Bugsy Siegel, this crisp B noir keeps the tension crackling thanks to the snappy dialogue and Phil Karlson’s inventive direction.

"11.1 A bit of a slow moving crime/film noir movie with some cheesy romance mixed in. Seems deliberately written to be low budget (though produced by Columbia) with most of the action taking place in one hotel room, that feels more like an apartment. In terms of plot this one is more on the legal side, convincing a female prisoner Ginger Rodgers) to testify against a big criminal(Lorne Greene). This is my first time seeing Ginger Rogers on film, I'll check out more of her earlier work as thi"

Even some of his lesser-known works exhibit a competency with mood and genre that other directors could only hope to master. Enter Tight Spot, a fun little showcase for Ginger Rogers towards the end of her film career with fine supporting work from Brian Keith and Edward G. Robinson.   Rogers plays a gangster moll released from prison and kept in police custody in hopes she’ll agree to testify against a notable crime boss. Robinson is the US attorney and Keith is the detective assigned to guard her. Naturally there’s a slow burning erotic chemistry between Keith and ” read more
