"One of Hammer's lesser known titles is a cracking thriller about a girl who witnesses the death of her mother at the hands of Jack The Ripper. Years later, as a young woman, she seems possessed by his spirit and a secret she has held for years. Eric Porter is the doctor who takes her in and while the film is slow to get going, once it gets to the heart of the story, it is a terrific horror with plenty of decent twists."

"One of the better Hammer horror films I've seen by far. It's bloody, it's good-looking, the acting is great for the most part and it's paced really well. Some minor things kinda bothered me, but that's mostly spoilers and I'll avoid dabbling into that. It's a way more tragic and bleak film than what I've usually seen from Hammer, which is why I probably liked it so much."
