Angel Mine focuses on a young and affluent suburban couple whose lives are completely saturated with advertising of one sort or another. The couple starts using a new drug that solves marital problems by blurring fantasy and reality, and becomes fatally entangled in their own wish-fulfillment world. Angel Mine created a storm of controversy in New Zealand when it was released in 1978 because a small number of people in moral watchdog groups considered it to be pornographic.
