Assassin's Creed (2016)
I didn't mind this. Having watched a fair amount of the game being played it looked spot on and our enjoyed the use of Spanish during the Inquisition scenes.
A Monster Calls (2016)
Captivating, emotional and devastating. A beautiful film which left a room full of adults sobbing in their seats.

La La Land (2016)
There's a lot of hype about this film. It's a decent film which works largely because of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. It needs their chemistry as the singing and dancing is average and three quarters of the way through it forgets it is a musical.
Beautiful costumes though. I wonder with hindsight a few of those five star reviews might come tumbling down.

Split (2016)
A bizarre little film where I kept on waiting for the 'final' twist which didn't come. So it was a bit like the end of the recent Clocerfield sequel.
Moonlight (2016)
Really enjoyed this three part film, had some gorgeous moments in the final section. Quiet and considered, it hid much and I like that sort of thing.
In need of a good edit, improved script and more appropriate soundtrack. Lovely performances despite this.
