Hyde Park on Hudson (2012)
This has to be the worst film I have seen in ages. It was utterly lifeless, uninteresting, bland... I could go on but that would make the whole film seem more appealing. Awful.

Side Effects (2013)
The trailer for this film really sold it short, there's far more going on in this film than the trailer suggests. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this!
ClareStar's rating:

The Croods (2013)
First film outing for Miss MJ who sat, with her coat on and hands held firmly over her ears, until the last 10 minutes of the film then made us watch the entire credits so she could sing to the music.
ClareStar's rating:

Iron Man 3 (2013)
More or less exactly what I imagined a Shane Black version of Iron Man would be like x100.
ClareStar's rating:

Epic (2013)
Great kids film, lots of laughs (in particular a joke about slugs involving eyes) and beautiful scenery. Shame Beyonce is so dreadful!
ClareStar's rating:

Populaire (2012)
I never thought a film about speed typing could hold so much tension! Phew! A light, fluffy film with so many beautiful outfits.
ClareStar's rating:

Despicable Me 2 (2013)
If I didn't know the first film so well I think I would have enjoyed this more. Too much minion action, given that they have a film of their own coming out soon, it seemed a bit over the top. Less heart that the original but still lots of laughs for little ones!
ClareStar's rating:

Now You See Me (2013)
Even the delightful combination of Mark Ruffalo and Melanie Laurent didn't make this film shine. I don't mind predictable but only when the characters are well developed...
ClareStar's rating:

Pacific Rim (2013)
Cheesy? Very. Hilarious? Certainly. It's also bloody brilliant! I saw 2d so cant comment on the 3d effects, really enjoyed it. Good old fashioned Friday night blockbuster fun.
ClareStar's rating:

The Wolverine (2013)
Not as good as the first two X-Men films but still lots of fun. Don't forget to stick around for the credits...
ClareStar's rating:

The Call (2013)
This is actually quite a decent thriller. A read a review which described it as being dated or very 90s but I thought it was a lot if fun and enjoyed the fact it was a no nonsense film. Made me think if Kiss the Girls or something similar.
ClareStar's rating:

The Fifth Estate (2013)
I don't know how to rate this. Great cast, great performances but the story seemed to lack tension and parts felt tacked on. Clunky.
As ever, a list of films seen at the cinema this year.
