Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004)
The second volume of Tarantino's revenge flick may have less action and more delicious dialogue than the first, but it's the conclusion we needed and completes what is really one film. When comparing the two volumes, I prefer the first ever so slightly for its amazing action scene between Uma Thurman's Bride against a horde of masked swordsman, but when Kill Bill is viewed as one film, it's arguably one of Tarantino's best, and that's saying something.

Funny, heartbreaking, and hopeful in equal measure, with a nice mix of movie magic. This finely acted, creatively scripted, expertly directed film is a beautiful depiction of relationships and the fear of losing love. In 2004 this was a unique breath of fresh air.

Team America: World Police (2004)
One of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I can't remember laughing this hard at the movies before or since I saw this ridiculous, vulgar, satirical puppet show by the minds behind "South Park". Nothing is sacred.

Personally, and this may sound strange, this is my favourite movie of 2004. I respect and appreciate "Million Dollar Baby" and "Eternal Sunshine", but I had a hell of a lot of fun watching "Team America" and "Anchorman". Both are hilarious, with the former being the "better" and "funnier" movie, but I find "Anchorman" more endearing. Also, there have been so many imitators since this film. I don't think many people realise how influential this movie is to modern comedy movies.

Shaun of the Dead (2004)
One of the great horror-comedies of our time. Like a BBC sitcom thrust into a Romero movie, it pays tribute to Zombie movie conventions while playing up irreverent comedic dialogue.

Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Bigger, better, and more finely structured than Spider-Man's first outing, this sequel seems to relish in director Sam Raimi's freedom to use his trademark over-the-top horror style. An important part in the beginning of the Superhero movie revolution of the 2000's - 2010's.
