Neon Genesis Evangelion

hugely interesting relatively short lived anime series mixing scifi, mystery, coming of age,religion, philosophy,hormones, erotica, aliens and giant "robots" - basically a more interesting version of Pacific Rim

26 episodes which are fairly slow paced and formulaic but amazingly have some large story arc and character progression - ignoring the last 2 episodes this was great

episodes 25 and 26 are wtf???

Highlights

The heroes have multiple reasons for doing what they do
It shows that war/fighting can really mess up people
the fact that teens are interested in sex is never avoided

Bad stuff
a bit repetitive and the saved at the last second thing nearly each episode was a bit tiring
the last episodes gave no effective resolution to the story

still a very worthwhile series
