An old windmill becomes a home for birds, mice and bats. Nearby frogs, crickets and fireflies make their music in an adjacent pond. Then a storm comes, shaking loose parts in the mill and threatening everything.

Insects have made a playground/carnival out of the cast-offs on a rubbish dump, including "ice skating" on mirrors.
Two love bugs head off to a more private area. But their fun is interrupted when a crow comes by. He bottles up the male bug and chases the female into her home. The male bug escapes in the nick of time and another bug notices the battle and rallies the rest of the bugs to attack, which they do, using false teeth, an eggbeater, a mousetrap, castor oil and other things.

Pluto's cage-mate at the dog pound, a terrier, breaks out and releases Pluto and all the other dogs too. In the park, the terrier keeps following Pluto too closely for his liking. He then digs up a huge bone and gives it to Pluto, who doesn't particularly want to share. But soon all the other escaped dogs are chasing after the bone.

Mad scientist Mickey Mouse has just brewed up a bravery potion. To test it out, he squirts it on a fly that's been trapped by a spider, then a mouse being harassed by a cat, next the cat when Pluto goes after it and finally Pluto when dog-catcher Pegleg Pete goes after him. Each of the underdogs turns against his tormentor.

A nightclub, staffed and frequented entirely by insects. Lighting provided by fireflies, card games dealt by centipedes. The stage show has a good-girl beetle resisting the advances of a bad-boy spider. Everyone dances, even the snails, as the orchestra plays jazz on their instruments made of flowers.

It's a peaceful day at the local poultry farm until Foxy Loxy happens along intent on a chicken dinner. He takes the advice of a book on psychology by striking "the least intelligent" first and convinces dim witted Chicken Little the sky is falling. Chicken Little spreads the word but when head man Cocky Locky proves the story to be false, Foxy Loxy spreads rumors that Cocky Locky isn't the smart chicken he appears to be, which leads to the ultimate undoing of the chickens at the hands of Foxy Loxy.

The people of Hamelin, over-run with rats, offer a bag of gold to anyone who can get rid of them. A piper offers to do the job and successfully lures the rats into a mirage of cheese, which disappears.
The citizens, disappointed that all he did was play a tune, offer only pocket change. The piper, angered, plays a new tune that has all the children of the city follow him, even the new twins the stork is preparing to deliver.

It's winter and Pluto is sniffing around outside when he hears a noise. It's coming from a bag floating on an ice floe in a creek. Pluto rescues it then loses interest when it turns out to be a kitten. But the kitten follows him home, and Mickey takes a liking to it, to Pluto's disgust.
Pluto's devil and angel sides give him conflicting advice. Pluto puts the cat up to mischief but Bianca the goldfish fingers Pluto as the real culprit, getting him thrown outside. The kitten falls into a well and the angel beats up the devil, convincing Pluto to save the kitten.
