Little Samson - Famicom and NES
Taito released this beautiful Mega Man-like NES game in November 1992, well after most gamers had moved on to the Super Nintendo system. As a result, very few were made and sold. Little Samson is so rare, in fact, that complete-in-box versions running as high as $2,900 on eBay.

The Quintet Exception
Quintet released their first game, ActRaiser, in 1990. All of these games play out like singular rare gems, but are somehow connected in spirit. Actraiser 2 is a sequel in name only. Completely different game from Actraiser 1990.
This is my list of the best single edition video games that were not tied to any official franchise. They don't have a toy, a licensing deal, a universe, just a sometimes generic world of their own that takes place in just 1 single game, never to be seen again (sadly).
These games remind of those things that SHOULD have been popular but just didn't catch on. All the ingredients were there, but they were just too weird to be accepted at the time, or seen as too generic. That's my theory anyway. What's yours? And what suggestions do you have for this list?
