Bubble (2005) (2006)
Wow, this is a difficult movie to critique. I think Soderbergh is so cool, with his experimentations. Here he enlisted non-actors for all the roles, using very little scripted dialogue.
Stehako's rating:

The editing helps keep this film interesting as we are literally watching one conversation with one woman nearly the entire film. The dialogue could have been so much better with such a clever idea.
Stehako's rating:

We Are Marshall (2006)
Director: McG
His 3rd movie
My 4th movie watched from the director
This movie (and Warner's) wanted so badly for this to be a family friendly Disney sports movie, but it fell short. Casting McC was a great choice, hiring McG was a bad choice. The writing ruined it and it was hokey. It's a shame because the story really is so good and the overall cast is top-notch.

The U.S. vs. John Lennon (2006)
A documentary about a man who lived multiple lifetimes with his life cut short. The title is a little bit deceiving as it was more about post-Beatles Lennon in general. I was hoping to learn a lot of new info but it basically rehashed most of what we generally know.
Stehako's rating:

A Prairie Home Companion (2006)
Sadly this is Altman's final film; but still an enjoyable one with some decent songs sung by good actors.
Stehako's rating:

I thought this was going to more of a modern/hip take on the story, with the way the cool trailer previewed it. I found it to be rather dull in the end.
Stehako's rating:

Invincible (2006)
Wahlberg is still trying hard to make us like him and take him seriously.
I like the story (based on a true story), but it's so watered-down and wholly unoriginal in its filmmaking.
Still I'm a sucker for the underdog!

Stehako's rating:

Harsh Times (2005)
A frustrating movie that's tough to get into, considering how unlikable the leads are.
A different type of role for Bale that never seems to be put to good use.
But it is pretty bad ass

Stehako's rating:

Take the Lead (2006)
It's a popular sub-genre for a reason; the teacher improves the lives of down-and-out kids through an uncommon method. This movie chooses ballroom dancing. There are many tropes and cliches and some editing mistakes and plot holes... but it's still entertaining. Antonio Banderas is as likable as in any of his hits.
Stehako's rating:

Flushed Away (2006)
Director: Sam Fell
His 1st movie
My 3rd movie watched from the director
This kept being the animated movie that slipped through year after year, and now that I've finally seen it... I'm underwhelmed. There were a lot of clever lines and scenes but overall, it felt done too many times. Would I have thought that in 2006? Probably not. Jackman and Winslet are good with the voice acting, and I always appreciate a nice adventure story.
Stehako's rating:

The Devil Wears Prada (2006)
This film will make you fall in love with Anne Hathaway and Emilie Blunt, will solidify that granite of a career for Meryl Streep, and make you realize Adrian Grenier will probably not have a career outside of "Entourage" for awhile.
Stehako's rating:

A Scanner Darkly (2006) (2006)

A disappointing follow-up to the similar "Waking Life". I felt the actors' talents weren't used properly but the creative animation is still worth the watch, even if the story isn't entirely worthy.
Stehako's rating:

For Your Consideration (2006)
One of Christopher Guest's weaker films but it is still filled with clever moments and a nice smack to the face of award-chasers and film industry. It's easy to do, but doesn't get done enough.
Stehako's rating:

Documenting the unfortunate lives Sudani boys looking for a better life in the US
Stehako's rating:

Idiocracy (2006)
The film Wall-E copied, with less stellar results; but an eerie, and sometimes funny, look into a probable future.
Stehako's rating:

Factotum (2005)
Matt is a likable asshole in this non-empathetic story of a an unorthodox factotum.
Stehako's rating:

Flags of Our Fathers (2006)

Probably my least favorite WWII film made in modern cinema era, but still decent and an important insight into the US's faulty propaganda schemes.
Stehako's rating:

Miami Vice (2006)
Besides Phil Collins (modernized) and its setting, this is nothing like the TV show. But damn these guys are cool.
Stehako's rating:

Crank (2006)
A wild ride that is stylish but silly. Once I stopped taking it seriously I enjoyed it a bit more. I like the concept and I like some of the editing and style choices; but overall it's incomplete.
Stehako's rating:

Nacho Libre (2006)
Jared Hess's follow-up to 'Napoleon Dyamite' was less than stellar; but Jack Black can certainly entertain under any circumstance. His two musical numbers are what put this into the top 50.
Stehako's rating:

The Host (2006)
Director: Bong Joon Ho
His 3rd movie
My 3rd movie watched from the director
You can see the mastery at work here, with a small budget. Bong's direction and cleverness shine above the primitive production. There are moments where it almost becomes a silly monster movie, but he reminds us it's more with his metaphors, strong direction, and solid characters and cast.

Who Killed the Electric Car? (2006)
This film will get you pissed off with how simple of an idea the Electric Car is and how we're wasting so much money and ruining air quality by not producing them.
Stehako's rating:

A tense documentary on an endurance yacht race in the 60s that didn't go... as planned.
Stehako's rating:

The Descent (2005)
A nice surprise. I like spelunking and I like the idea of several women discovering a new cave. What I typically don't like are the movies that think they are scary but adding jump-scares and gore. This one is actually scary and it treads in the Herzog's "Aguirre, The Wrath of God" territory of as far as progressing into madness.
The one thing that kept this from being even higher on the list is the very end. I think they should have had her be killed by freak traffic accident instead of the stupid jump-scare, you know, the ones I'm never impressed by.

Stehako's rating:

Notes on a Scandal (2006)
Two acting masters head off in this unusual film about unusual relationships.
Stehako's rating:

Certainly an improvement from the second, thanks to PS Hoffman and Keri Russell and more intelligent plotting and action.
Stehako's rating:

Stoned (2005)
The wild months leading up to Brian Jones' death are entertaining indeed.
Stehako's rating:

The Painted Veil (2018)
Such a beautiful film. Like 'The Fountain', I could watch it over and over; but the story was just too negative all the way through until the end when I didn't care enough about the characters to feel differently.
Stehako's rating:

Monster House (2006)
The first film I saw in 3D and it was fun family entertainment. A good set of voice talent and an interesting enough storyline.
Stehako's rating:

Night at the Museum (2006)
This was a fun movie with a good cast throughout. I hear they are making a second one with an even bigger cast, including Amy Adams and Jonah Hill.
Stehako's rating:

With such a great cast and concept this should have an amazing film; but somehow it failed to ignite enough interest and I pushed myself to watch the entire thing. I rank it this high because of Blanchett's acting and the direction from Soderbergh.

Stehako's rating:

Bobby (2006)
A great cast of Emilio Estevez's friends and family(Nick Cannon kind of ruined an emotional moment by being too emotional) mix story lines in the Ambassador Hotel the night RFK died. LCD never looked like so much fun!
Stehako's rating:

Inland Empire (2006)
Messed up and beautiful... relentlessly messed up and beautiful
