The Silver Age version of Hawkwoman was Shayera Hol, a law enforcement officer from the planet Thanagar and wife of Katar Hol, the Silver Age Hawkman. She met her husband when she was assigned to partner with him as a rookie.

Ten years later the pair were sent to Earth to apprehend a Thanagarian criminal and grew to like the world so much during the mission that they returned (once taking the criminal to justice) to study it's crimefighting methods.

They subsequently joined the Justice League and had may adventures.
