Darth Vader is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. He was formerly Anakin Skywalker, a Jedi Knight prophesied to destroy the evil Sith and bring balance to the Force, until he fell to the dark side. The Star Wars movies follow his development as a Jedi, his fall to the dark side and eventually, his redemption.
